Job Title: Scenic Painter (186) Company: LAIKA, Inc. Location: Hillsboro, OR Description: 186 Job Description General Summary The Scenic Artist is responsible for painting and texturing backgrounds, landscapes and large set pieces or individual props or models. Must have an understanding of color, paint types and the full range of painting and texturing techniques used for painting miniature sets. Essential Job Functions Paint sets and props following the color and lighting script set forth by the Production Designer. Able to create nearly indentical paint jobs on multiple versions of the same prop or set. May be asked to do exploritory work for texture, light and color script. Able to work under tight deadlines and communicate if deadlines are slipping or delayed. Inventory and track materials needed for work flow and communicate when inventory is low. Frequent communication with the digital matte painters. Qualifications B.S./B.A. in film, art or related field or equivalent combination of education/or experience. 3 years of experience in scenic departments including work on miniatures, scale models, backgrounds and landscapes. Strong aesthetic sense and knowledge of a variety of paint, painted textures and painting techniques. Able to work in fine detail for extended periods of time. Prior production experience preferred.
