WBNS, the TEGNA-owned CBS affiliate in Columbus, OH is seeking a Freelance Video Editor/Photographer to join our news department.
The ideal candidate is proficient at creating captivating and shareable content for television, social media, and mobile platforms.
You must be a self-starter who is technologically savvy and can work under tight deadlines.
We are looking for individuals who possess a keen artistic eye, a deep understanding of editing and photojournalist techniques, and a passion for storytelling.
The freelance video editor/photographer works closely with executive producers, producers and reporting staff in the newsroom. The ideal video editor possesses excellent communication and organizational skills; must work well under pressure, within a team environment andhave the ability to thinkoutside-the-box when it comes to editing.
Responsibilities:
Editing a variety of video elements including voice-overs, SOTS, packages, graphics and teases for both broadcast and digital.
Ability to operate non-linear edit systems, experience with Edius and Adobe Premiere.
Coordinate incoming video feeds to record and route video and sounds to other parts of the building.
Must always have a professional demeanor and work well/as a team player with news team and staff
Ability to multi-task, handling editing assignments and capturing feeds and FTP material, while constantly monitoring quality control editing to scripts and producer notes
Work closely with news producers, reporters, photojournalists, and the digital team to create content across all platforms
Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or executive producer
Requirements:
BA/BS degree preferred
Knowledge of non-linear editing systems using Edius, Premiere, and Photoshop
Experience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systems
Must be flexible with schedule, reliable and dependable
Proven ability to generate creative, engaging, content-driven live shots
Organizational skills and the ability to work under deadline pressure
Excellent communication skills
Must be able to work early mornings, nights and weekends
The ability to adhere to brand guidelines and standards is also a must
