POSITION SUMMARY

The Summer Camp Photographer is responsible for capturing high-quality photographs of campers and activities throughout the summer camp season. This role involves taking candid and posed shots of campers, camp activities, and staff to create lasting memories and promotional content. The photographer will be responsible for maintaining an organized image library, uploading photos regularly, and ensuring all media complies with YMCA of Greensboro policies for privacy and safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned.

Photograph Camp Activities

  • Capture high-quality images of campers participating in various activities such as sports, arts and crafts, swimming, and team-building exercises.

  • Focus on candid, natural moments, as well as posed group photos during specific activities and special events.

  • Work with program staff to ensure all key moments and activities are covered.

Maintain Image Library

  • Upload and organize photos into a centralized image library.

  • Categorize images by camp activities, groups, and dates.

  • Ensure proper tagging for easy access and retrieval.

Ensure Privacy and Compliance

  • Be aware of and comply with all policies regarding camper privacy and media consent.

  • Ensure no unauthorized individuals or photos of sensitive activities are shared.

Equipment Maintenance

  • Maintain and care for all photography equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition throughout the summer.

  • Report any equipment issues.

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in photography, media, or a related field preferred.

  • Experience with digital cameras, image editing software (such as Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop), and creating digital photo libraries.

  • Prior experience in a camp or youth-oriented setting is preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to operate a digital camera and related photography equipment proficiently.

  • Strong organizational skills for managing and categorizing large numbers of photos.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with children, staff, and camp leadership.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 30 lbs.

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Frequent walking, standing, and bending during photo sessions.

Certifications

  • CPR/AED, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen training required upon hire and must remain current throughout employment.
