About the Role
Our client, a nationally recognized leader in the retail industry known for its strong brand presence and customer-focused storytelling, is seeking a Video Art Director to join its Communications team. This role is ideal for a creative professional who excels at documentary-style storytelling and is passionate about bringing real, human stories to life through compelling video content. This position requires a blend of creative vision, hands-on production experience, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to deliver high-quality video projects that align with brand and business objectives. Candidates must be local and able to work onsite as needed. Job Description
As a Video Art Director, you will lead the creative direction and execution of video content, with a focus on authentic, documentary-style storytelling. You will play a key role throughout the entire production lifecyclefrom concept development and storyboarding to on-set direction and post-production oversight.
Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and direct real-people, documentary-style video content for internal and external communications
• Conduct interviews with a wide range of individuals, capturing authentic and compelling narratives
• Translate business objectives into clear creative direction, ensuring alignment with target audiences
• Create storyboards and narrative frameworks that effectively communicate the intended message and story arc
• Partner with the Associate Creative Director (Motion Media) to define and maintain creative vision, ensuring consistency in style, tone, and quality
• Collaborate closely with Creative Producers to support production planning and execution
• Provide on-set art direction, including guiding talent, framing shots, and ensuring visual alignment with the creative vision
• Capture short-form video content, including documentary-style footage and sizzle reels
• Oversee post-production, providing direction to editors, colorists, and audio engineers on pacing, color, and sound design
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and adhering to budget constraints

Additional Requirements:

• Portfolio submission is required and must include samples that closely align with documentary-style storytelling
• Candidates must clearly identify which portfolio pieces best represent the required style; submissions without this will not be considered

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Art Director or similar role focused on video production
• Strong portfolio demonstrating documentary-style storytelling and real-people interview content
• Experience conducting interviews and directing non-professional talent
• Expertise in developing storyboards, narrative structures, and creative concepts for video
• Hands-on experience with on-set direction, including camera composition and visual storytelling
• Demonstrated ability to manage post-production workflows and collaborate with editors and production teams
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to be onsite as needed (local candidates required)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a corporate or brand-driven creative environment
• Familiarity with communications or internal storytelling content
• Experience partnering with cross-functional creative and marketing teams
• Background in short-form content creation for digital or social platforms
