  • Location: F&M Campus - Lancaster, PA
  • Classification: Full-time, Exempt
  • Schedule: 40 hours, Monday - Friday. May require evenings and weekends.

  • Approved salary range: $80,000.00 - $87,000.00

Job Description:

The Creative Services Director is a senior-level leader and individual contributor responsible for the coordination and supervision of the design staff and visual activities within the Office of Communications and Marketing. This position serves as the primary architect of the College's visual brand, deciding on creative direction and visual tone while aligning with the institution's strategic goals and marketing initiatives. The Director manages the production of high-impact print and digital deliverables, ensuring that all visual marketing materials meet the quality standards of a prestigious liberal arts institution.

Essential Functions:

  • Assume full artistic and creative control on assigned projects and provide visionary leadership for all graphic designers.
  • Manage and supervise the design team, including two Graphic Designers, by delegating responsibilities, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining the brand while motivating direct reports.
  • Provide innovative design solutions to the College's marketing and communications challenges across various areas, including advertising, multimedia, and social media.
  • Work closely with project managers and divisional stakeholders to ensure creative briefs meet expectations while maintaining brand consistency.
  • Provide art direction for the creation of photo and illustration elements and participates in the design and development of recruitment campaigns.
  • Review all creative work passing through the division to provide quality assurance and creative critiques.
  • Accurately estimate work hours for projects and manage design revisions efficiently to adhere to standard operating procedures.
  • Protect and store all digital assets and ensure that all designs are optimized for their intended multiple formats.
  • Translate complex or technical information into visual content that is easily consumed by target audiences.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in art, design, marketing communications, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in graphic design and branding or related experience.
  • Expert design skills for print and digital media with a demonstrated ability to utilize best practices in typography, layout, and color theory.
  • Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat).
  • Strong organizational skills to maximize workflow, and the ability to exhibit sound judgment under pressure.
  • Ability to work and think proactively and be available after hours as needed for College priorities.
  • Ability to stay up to date on relevant design trends and maintain familiarity with materials produced by competitors in the higher education space.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite Products (Docs, Gmail, Sheets, Slides, Drive)
  • Evidence of a commitment to community & belonging.
  • Successful interview.
  • Successful completion of background checks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in related field.
  • Specific experience in User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) design.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a project manager for complex projects involving multiple creative producers.

Additional Information:
