Working under the direction of the Director of Communications and Marketing, the Design Specialist will be responsible for designing and producing an extensive variety of print materials, web-based communications, and promotional items for the College. Projects include advertisements, brochures, reports, event invitations, flyers, programs, banners, photo display stationery, posters, and other materials.
The duties and responsibilities of the position include:
Creates visually appealing, engaging, and responsive web and print designs and templates.
Participates in designing landing pages for marketing and advertising campaigns.
Collaborates with Director of Communications, web page developer, college relations manager, enrollment manager and departments to implement responsive, Interactive, and accessible designs.
Conducts usability testing and gathers feedback to iterate and improve designs.
Approves and/or corrects York College/CUNY branding and logos used by external vendors and college departments before going into production.
Ensures all designs are consistent with the University's and York College's branding guidelines and enhances the overall user experience.
Works with project managers and college print shop to assess project scope and client needs.
Coordinates production activities with internal and extern personnel.
Supports the online components of the Communications and Marketing department, encompassing the social media, electronic communications, and multimedia areas.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Provides design and production expertise for College publications, written materials, and multi-media communications.
Works with department and other College administrators to assess departmental publication needs and determine appropriate production and design elements
Participates in planning communications messages, graphic elements, and formats appropriate to client requirements
Manages production schedules and budgets, coordinating production activities with internal and external personnel
Plans and implements on-line and multimedia communications, coordinating with Information Technology professionals as needed
Supervises staff both creative and production staff; works with College print shop, computer center, and other departments to ensure support of college publication needs
May oversee equipment inventories and coordinate maintenance of specialized equipment and technology
Develops production workflows, policies and standards, and assures adherence to any internal or external communications standards
Performs related duties as assigned.

$70,815 - $76,937 - Salary commensurate with education and experience.
