The Position

The Digital Arts Teacher is responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive digital arts curriculum that integrates technical skills with creative expression. The role involves instructing students in areas such as graphic design, digital illustration, photography, animation, and multimedia production, aligning with CTE standards to prepare students for post-secondary education and careers in digital media fields.

The Candidate

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Certification:

  • Bachelors degree in Digital Arts, Graphic Design, Multimedia, or a related field.

  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement(s) for CTE instruction.

Experience:

  • Prior teaching experience in digital arts or related subjects is preferred.

  • Professional experience in the digital media industry is advantageous.

Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Proficiency in digital arts software and tools, including Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Strong understanding of design principles, visual communication, and multimedia production.

  • Ability to foster a creative and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The Details

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

  • Design and implement engaging lesson plans that cover digital arts topics, including but not limited to:

    • Graphic design principles and software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite)

    • Digital photography and image editing

    • Animation and motion graphics

    • Multimedia storytelling and video production

  • Integrate industry-standard tools and practices to provide students with real-world applications of digital arts.

  • Assess and evaluate student performance, providing constructive feedback to support growth and skill development.

  • Maintain an organized and safe classroom environment, ensuring all equipment is used responsibly.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum across disciplines and participate in interdisciplinary projects.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in digital arts to continually enhance the curriculum.

  • Engage with the community and industry partners to provide students with opportunities such as internships, workshops, and exhibitions.

  • Participate in professional development activities to maintain and improve teaching skills and content knowledge.


Working Conditions
  • Environment: Classroom and computer lab settings; may include occasional off-site events or field trips.

  • Physical Demands: Standing for extended periods, operating computers and digital equipment, and occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds.
