The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix is currently seeking an enthusiastic and creative Graphic Designer to join our dynamic team on the Phoenix Bioscience Core campus. As a member of the Marketing and Communications team, the ideal candidate will bring a passion for design and a deep commitment to supporting medical education and the next generation of physicians.
This full-time, on-site position is focused on designing impactful digital and print marketing materials that align with, and support the institutions strategic initiatives. We are seeking a skilled graphic designer who thrives on creative challenges and is passionate about using their expertise to convey the mission of the College of Medicine Phoenix. The designer will play a key role in maintaining brand consistency while delivering compelling visuals that effectively communicate the universitys brand message across diverse platforms.
A portfolio submission is required for consideration. Applicants must demonstrate a solid grasp of design principles, highlighting their ability to create visually compelling work that effectively communicates ideas and tells a story. Portfolio samples should highlight expertise in both print and digital design and include multi-page layout projects such as magazines, brochures, newsletters and similar work.

Duties & Responsibilities- Ensure that all design work is consistent with the university's creative strategy, brand identity and enhances the institution's visual presence across all platforms.
- Develop and deliver innovative design concepts that align with the university's strategic goals by creating engaging materials tailored to diverse audiences.
- Contribute to strategy/agenda/pipeline for the college's strategic initiatives as a member of Marketing and Communications team.
- Provide guidance to ensure brand standards are understood and consistently applied across all communications and marketing initiatives.
- Develop marketing collateral in both physical and digital formats with the intent of promoting the college and its programs.
- Manage assignments/projects from concept through design, production and final implementation to ensure cohesive and effective execution.
- Collaborate across multiple departments and internal cross-functional teams to identify key objectives and expectations, and seamlessly deliver complex projects and programs.
- Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs and develop creative content and presentations that optimize engagement.
- Actively contribute to brainstorming sessions, collaborate on ideas and be a mentor to other members of the team.
- Provide training on university brand standards, design principles and campaign design/measurement to internal stakeholders.
- Manage strategic issues and be proactive in keeping up with and adopting best practices, methods or techniques in design and multimedia.
- Monitor purchases and balance budget for design projects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Skilled at using a Mac platform and familiarity with Adobe CC (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Excellent knowledge of typography, color theory, and layout design.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, etc.).
- Ability to take an assignment or complex project and independently see it through the design and production processes.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment and take direction.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work on time and within deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Five (5) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Bachelors degree in graphic design or related field.
- At least three years of design experience in an agency or in-house marketing department.
- Proven experience in graphic design with a strong portfolio demonstrating creativity, versatility and expertise in design principles.
- Understanding of print production processes, including pre-press preparation, color management, file setup and material selection is beneficial but not required.
- A passion for medical education and a deep appreciation for the role it plays in shaping the future of health care.
- A proactive and positive attitude with a genuine excitement to contribute to a medical school that is shaping the future health care in Arizona and beyond.
