Overview
Seeking a Social Art Director to lead the development and execution of social-first creative across campaigns and seasonal initiatives. This role translates brand strategy into platform-native content, provides on-set direction, and drives high-quality photo and video production optimized for social platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Art Direction
Define and execute social-first creative across campaigns and seasonal initiatives
Translate brand strategy into platform-native content for TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, and other channels
Communicate creative direction to Art Directors and Content Creators
Provide on-set art direction to ensure content aligns with platform best practices and brand standards
Serve as the primary creative decision-maker on set for social content
Direct photographers on lighting, composition, and overall visual execution
Partner with stylists and production teams to ensure environments support creative intent
Provide real-time problem solving across in-store, studio, and on-location shoots
Review and approve social content prior to leadership review and provide actionable feedback
Step in as Art Director for studio photography when needed
Deliver live feedback on high-priority or complex shoots
Content Production
Capture photo and video content optimized for mobile-first social platforms
Collaborate with content creators and studio teams on photo and video production
Lead location scouting and selection for social-first shoots
Direct and execute on-location content capture while balancing production timelines
Manage set-building needs in partnership with stylists and producers, aligning creative goals with budget constraints
Direct on-camera talent, including content creators; step in as talent when needed
Brief stylists on upcoming shoots and provide ongoing creative guidance
Own development of shot lists and weekly production plans
Provide visual references, propping direction, and product storytelling guidance
Partner with styling and merchandising teams to track product usage across shoots
Strategy & Planning
Develop social creative direction during key planning moments and milestone reviews
Partner closely with stylists to guide social-first styling decisions through feedback and visual references
Qualifications
Experience in art direction with a focus on social and digital content
Strong understanding of platform-specific creative (TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.)
Proven ability to lead on-set production and make real-time creative decisions
Experience directing photography and video for social-first campaigns
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with creative, production, and merchandising teams
Strong organizational skills with experience managing shot lists and production workflows
